  • Regulations on Submission of Papers to Applied Science & Convergence Technology

  • Article 1 [Category] The papers on the Applied Science & Convergence Technology (hereinafter called 'This Academic Journal'), which is the journal of the KVS (hereinafter called 'This Society') shall be classified into the research paper, review paper, rapid communications, and brief reports or technical notes.

  • Article 2 [Submission] In principle, The submission of papers may be submitted electronically via the journal's online manuscript submission system, ASCT - Press.

  • Article 3 [Field] The contributor should specify the category aforementioned in Article 1 (research paper, review paper, rapid communications, and brief reports or technical notes) and the academic field (vacuum technology, surface science, plasma and display, semiconductors and thin films, nanoscience/nano and biointerface, energy technology) following the contents of paper, and may recommend experts in the relevant field as the potential reviewers.

  • Article 4 [Language] The paper is framed in English using the MS-word in principle.

  • Article 5 [System] The paper is framed in compliance with the following system and format.

    • 1)The manuscript is framed at the standard of A4 with proper margin on the left, right, top, and bottom.

    • 2)The manuscript is framed in the order of the title, name of authors, affiliation, address, abstract, keywords (about 5 keywords), contact information of corresponding author (e-mail, Tel, Fax), text, acknowledgements, references, figure and table captions list and tables.

    • 3)The expressions, tables and figures is indicated as 'Eq.(1)', 'Table IV', and 'Fig. 3', respectively, and are given the numbers in the order of being appeared in the text. The figures should be submitted in the quality that can be published electronically, and the letters and numbers in figures should be big enough in size considering that they may be reduced. Avoid any large size differences of the lettering and labels used within one illustration. Figures will appear in color in the online. Ensure that colors chosen will reproduce well when printed in black & white, and that descriptions of figures in text will be sufficiently clear for both print and online versions. Provide captions to illustrations separately, not attached to the figure. Identify all figure parts with (a), (b), etc. Explain all symbols and abbreviations used.

      Electronic graphic formats:
      - Use these file formats only: EPS, PS, TIFF(.tif), or JPEG(.jpg).
      - Submit a single file for each figure with figure parts: label each part (a), (b), etc.
      - Set the graphics for
      Line art: 600 dpi resolution and black/white bitmap, not gray scale.
      Halftones: 264 dpi resolution and grayscale, not black/white bitmap.
      Combinations (line art + halftone): 600 dpi and grayscale, not black/white bitmap.
      Color: 300 dpi JPG, TIFF, PS, or EPS format.

    • 4)The SI units are used for units in principle, and the international practices are applied correspondingly.

    • 5)The cited literature are given [numbers] in the order of being mentioned in the text as '[1]', '[2, 3]', and '[4-6,9]', and should be presented altogether as 'references' at the end of the text. The references should be written in the order of authors, name of academic journal, number of volume, number of first page, (year). The books are written in the order of authors, title, (publishing company, place of publication, year of publication), number of pages cited. The number of volume is in bold letters, title is in italic letters, and the publication year of academic journal, and publishing company, place of publication, and year of publication of a book are put in round brackets year.

  • Article 6 [Modification] The editor (in chief) may demand the modification or supplement of paper to the author following the results of review. The first proof are conducted by the author in principle, but the contents of paper should not be revised. It shall be considered that there is no correction if there is no reply within one week after the receipt of notification of first proof.

  • Article 7 [Copyright] The author shall transfer the copyright to This Society pursuant to the supplied form designated by This Society. But, the exceptional rule on copyright may be established by a special agreement between the Editorial Board of This Academic Journal and the author.

  • Article 8 [Publication Fee] The author should pay a imposed publication fee for the paper determined to be published in This Academic Journal, and an exceptional rule may be applied to the paper requested by the Editorial Board.

  • Article 9 [Review of Articles]
    • (1) (Review Process) Acceptance of a manuscript in ASCT is determined through rigorous peer-reviewing process. After the Editorial Office assigns an editor, the assigned editor sends the manuscript to two or more referees for peer-review. The assigned referees review the manuscript and their review results are reported to the Editor-in-Chief. Finally, Editor-in-Chief notifies the review results to the corresponding author(s).

    • (2) (Objection) If there is any objection to the review results, corresponding author(s) can appeal within 60 days after being notified. Editor-in-Chief has the obligation to notify the results after one more review.

    • (3) Details about the review follow the review policy of ASCT.


  • Information on Submission of Papers to Applied Science & Convergence Technology

    Applied Science & Convergence Technology, published by the KVS, features up-to-date reports on significant new findings in applied science & technology fields. The scope of the journal covers vacuum technology, surface and interface science, plasma and display, semiconductors and thin films, nanoscience/nano and biointerface, and energy technology.

    The papers are classified into the research paper, review paper, letter, and brief reports or technical notes, and the Editorial Board may ask the modification and determine whether to accept or not through the reviewing process. The review papers may be freely contributed, but may be requested to an expert of the relevant fields by the Editorial Board.

    The submission of papers may be submitted electronically via the journal's online manuscript submission system, ASCT - Press.

    At the time of submission, please specify the category of paper (the research paper, review paper, letter, and brief reports or technical notes,) and the academic field (vacuum technology, surface and interface science, plasma and display, semiconductors and thin films, nano science and technology, and energy technology).

    Acceptable manuscript file types are MSWord, LaTeX, and PDF. For the initial submission/review process, a single PDF or MSWord file including the figures is sufficient. This file should contain, in order, the following.

        1.Title
        2.Author names and affiliations
        3.Abstract
        4.Main text
        5.Acknowledgements
        6.Appendix
        7.References
        8.Figure and table captions list
        9.Tables
      10.Figures

    Please place one figure per page. Each figure should include all parts of the figure. For example, if Figure 1 contains three parts (a, b, c), then all of the parts should be on the same page.

    Please enter about 5 keywords in the first page of paper.

    Abbreviated title is ‘ASCT’

    The status of submitted papers may be checked at the Submission of Paper → Applied Science & Convergence Technology → Progress of Examination in the Website of ASCT - Press. The ID and Password necessary for access to the Website are attached in the letter of confirmation for receipt of paper, and can be checked through the Executive Office of this Society.

    The publication fee should be paid for the papers determined to be published in This Academic Journal. But, the exceptional rule for publication fee may be applied for the papers requested by the Editorial Board.
